Water Treatment Plant #9

Water Treatment Plant #9

Water Treatment Plant #9 is one of four Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department drinking water treatment plants operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It utilizes state-of-the-art membrane softening filters, which are fine plastic sheets through which pressurized water is pumped. The membrane-softened water is then blended with filtered raw water to adjust hardness to the proper chemical balance for prevention of corrosion in water mains. The water is also degasified and disinfected before it is distributed to the surrounding suburban Boca Raton area. The plant has the capacity to produce approximately 27 million gallons per day.
