Dear Friend,
The 2011 Property Tax season is over but my office has not slowed down.
May begins delinquent Property Tax season. The public notice on delinquents is advertised for three consecutive weeks before the June tax certificate sale. Delinquent Tangible Taxes are advertised for one week prior to a warrant issuance. Taxpayers have until May 31 to bring delinquent taxes current. Payments are accepted in cash, bank draft, certified check, money order, cashier’s check, or wire transfers in US funds only. Personal checks are not accepted.
2011 Property Taxes not paid prior to May 31, 2012 go to Tax Certificate Sale on June 7. Florida Law requires Tax Collectors to conduct tax certificate sales to collect the preceding year’s unpaid property taxes. Tax certificates are a lien on delinquent real estate properties and expire seven years from the date of issuance.
I have some good news to share:
- Our employees donated over $11,000 to the Lord’s Place as a part of our 2011 Friday Dress Down for Charity. This is the third year we have supported the Lord’s Place as a part of our weekly dress down charity donations. The Lord’s Place provides jobs, training, and a place to live for Palm Beach County’s homeless.
- My office reached a $42,176.63 settlement with Circuit City. The company filed bankruptcy in November of 2008. The settlement is the result of a two-year battle to recover outstanding taxes. These dollars help fund police officers, firefighters, and other valuable services to county residents.
- The Woman’s Chamber of Commerce selected me for their 2012 Giraffe Award. This honor is awarded to women who have made a difference in the workplace and community through initiative, dedication, perseverance, and risk-taking. The Giraffe Award goes to women who have “stuck their necks out.” My co-honoree is international author Marilyn Murray Willison.
Did you sign up for the Installment Payment Plan by April 30? If so, look for your June Installment Notice next month. If you don’t receive the bill by the 2rd week in June, please contact our office for a duplicate bill. You are officially enrolled in the Installment Payment Plan when we receive the first installment payment by June 30. You may pay online, in person, or by mail.
If you have questions regarding your delinquent property taxes, tax certificate sale, or your June Installment please contact our Client Advocate at ClientAdvocate@taxcollectorpbc.com.
My favorite part of May is that we honor mothers, aunts, grandmothers, and other strong women role models. Wishing you and yours a Happy Mother’s Day.
Sincerely,

Anne M. Gannon
