Welcome to the Palm Beach County Purchasing Department's web site. The mission of the Purchasing Department is to provide all County Department’s under the Board of County Commissioners with: 1) procurement services in accordance with the Purchasing Code; 2) central warehouse services and basic operating supplies at a reasonable cost; and 3) timely and efficient courier and mail services.
The Purchasing Department provides the procurement function for all County Departments under the Board of County Commissioners. Procurements are centralized through the Purchasing Department for all non-construction and non-exempt purchases valued at $5,000 or higher, with all departments having authority for decentralized purchases valued at $5,000 or less. The procurement of goods and services is accomplished through various methods including, but not limited to, Invitations for Bid (IFB), Requests for Proposal (RFP), Requests for Quotation (RFQ), and Requests for Submittal (RFS).
Other services provided by the Purchasing Department include the provision of a central warehouse facility that provides a centralized shipping, receiving, and storage operation for County Departments; a County store that provides basic operating supplies at a reasonable cost; and, courier and mail service that delivers interdepartmental and U.S. Mail to all County Departments.
