TOWTRUCK DRIVER IDENTIFICATION BADGE

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY !!

The Consumer Affairs Division will no longer provide driver record transcripts.  All vehicle for hire and towtruck drivers will be required to provide a copy of their lifetime driver record along with the application and/or renewal for a driver Identification badge.

Historically, the information was provided to county government agencies and municipalities at no cost. The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles began collecting the fees specified by Section 322.20, Florida Statutes, for driver record transcripts.

Driver access records can be obtained from any Palm Beach County Clerk and Comptroller’s Office or Courthouse for $16.25.  In addition, there are several other agencies and companies authorized to provide interactive access to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles driver license history file for obtaining data.

Every person who drives a towtruck in Palm Beach County is required to conspicuously display a badge that looks like this while working. This badge shows consumers and law enforcement officers who the driver is and means the driver has passed both a criminal and driving background check. Consumers and law enforcement officers have a right to examine the I.D. Badge.
