Gov. Scott Celebrates Palm Beach County Day

Each year during Palm Beach County Day (PBC Day), participants swarm the Capitol to meet with state lawmakers. High on the list of opportunities to discuss Palm Beach County’s priority issues is a meeting with the governor himself. In 2012, PBC Day attendees were pleased to participate in a working meeting with Governor Rick Scott and Lt. Governor Jennifer Carroll. This meeting allowed PBC Day participants the opportunity to speak directly to the Governor and Lt. Governor about issues such as economic development opportunities in the Glades, funding for Palm Beach State College and Medicaid. The meeting, arranged by the PBC Legislative Affairs Department, was a perfect opportunity for our county’s leaders to address their most urgent concerns directly with the governor.

Two Hotels are Better Than One!

Every year our staff tries to find ways to make Palm Beach County Day better. This year is no exception. In order to accommodate the tastes of all our attendees, we will base our events at the Aloft hotel, but still have a block of rooms at the DoubleTree for those who prefer to be just that much closer to the Capitol. The Aloft hotel is Tallahassee’s newest hotel within walking distance of the Capitol.

The Aloft also offers a sleek, streamlined look and functionality along with a spacious lounge area and a room rate that is less than you paid for your room last year at Palm Beach County Day. Each reservation at the hotel is for a two-night stay (March 5 & 6) at $169 per night. Reservations at the DoubleTree Hotel are also for a two-night stay at $199 per night. Room charges will be billed to each registrant’s credit card. Public Affairs will handle the room reservations with information about both hotels available on the registration form which will be included in the next newsletter.
