It’s been said that life’s only constant is change. Palm Beach County Day (PBC Day) certainly reflects that saying. Over the past several years, PBC Day has gone through many changes. In 2012, PBC Day will continue the tradition of re-inventing itself. For years, PBC Day has been funded by money generated from numerous sponsors. In an abundance of caution, and in consultation with the Inspector General (IG) and the Executive Director of the Commission on Ethics, Palm Beach County Public Affairs will no longer collect sponsorship money for Palm Beach County Day. In order to make PBC Day a completely registration funded event, the 2012 PBC Day registration fee will increase from $75 to $100 for each person attending. This small increase of $25 should raise enough revenue to fund two Palm Beach County Day Hospitality Suites, the Breakfast and the Luncheon. This will allow the entire event to be funded completely by registration fees and eliminates the need to solicit sponsorship dollars, while still keeping registration fees reasonable. Due to the elimination of sponsorship solicitation, the PBC Day Reception will no longer be a part of the Palm Beach County Day line-up of events. PBC Day Host Hotel: DoubleTreePalm Beach County Day 2012 will be using the DoubleTree Hotel in Tallahassee as our base hotel. DoubleTree has offered us a price per night that is much lower than the standard rate. DoubleTree has upgraded its rooms with flatscreen TVs, new linens and a refrigerator in each room. They have also doubled the size of the new 24-hour fitness center. In the past, DoubleTree has provided excellent service and value to the participants of Palm Beach County Day, and we expect no less in 2012.  |
