![]() Did you know that more than 350 million pairs of shoes are sent to landfills each year? The "Shoes for the Cure" program aims to reduce that amount by providing bins where people can drop off their old or unwanted shoes to be recycled instead of going into landfills. Through this program, the shoes you donate will be cleaned and refurbished to be sold in second-hand shops, or will be processed to become rubberized athletic surfaces. All three County-run Nature Centers (see links below) are participating in the shoe recycling program and have bins for shoe collection, so the next time you visit, be sure to bring your old shoes with you!
