Upcoming Programs

 

PROGRAM INFORMATION:
· Programs are by reservation only unless otherwise noted. Call 561-233-1400 or visit the center to make a reservation.
· Many programs require minimum registration in order to run the program. Please register at least 2 days in advance.
· Please call if you cannot keep your reservation, which will allow someone on the waiting list to take your spot.
· If you are more than 5 minutes late to a program you have a reservation for, your spot will be given to a person on the wait list.
· Fees are due upon arrival to program (cash or check preferred).
· For every program, participants/guardians are required to sign a Program Participation Form.

  • NATURE WALK
    Saturday, Feb 28, 10:30am
    Families/All Ages, FREE
    Join us for a FREE guided nature walk through the pine flatwoods forest and learn about what lives in this area.

MARCH

  • SCIENCE FOR SENIORS: Insects and Butterflies
    Tuesday, March 3, 9:30am
    Adults 50+, $5/person
    Reservations Required – Call 561-233-1400
    ‘Science for Seniors’ programs are easy paced and are designed for adults 50 and older with a desire to learn more about our environment.  Delve into the interesting world of insects with guest speakers Edward Nelson and Richard Crook as they share their photos and share their stories with us. 
     
  • STORY TIME
    Thursday, March 5, 10:00am
    Ages 2-5, $2/child
    Reservations Required – Call 561-233-1400
    Introduce your little ones to Mother Nature through stories!  Class activities may include live animals, games, nature walks and/or crafts specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!  Class is approximately one half hour long and the topic varies for each class.

  • GOPHER TORTOISES
    Saturday, March 14, 10:30am
    Families / All Ages, $3/person
    Reservations Required – Call 561-233-1400
    Okeeheelee Park is home to a population of Gopher Tortoises, which are protected under state law.  Come meet some LIVE tortoises, examine a burrow, and learn why this species is important to the Pine Flatwood habitat.  
        
  • SCIENCE FOR SENIORS: Wetland Field Trip
    Tuesday, March 17, Meet at Green Cay Nature Center at 9:00am
    Adults 50+, $5/person
    Reservations Required – Call 561-233-1400
    ‘Science for Seniors’ programs are easy paced and are designed for adults 50 and older with a desire to learn more about our environment.  Docent Christene Campbell-Gabor will lead us on a tour of the Green Cay Wetlands describing the habitat, and how this unique wetland came to be. 

  • ARCHERY for BEGINNERS
    Wednesday, March 18, 10:00am
    Ages 8-15, $10/youth
    Reservations Required – Call 561-233-1400
    Take part in a special NEW program offered during Spring Break!  Learn the basics of archery from safety to shooting and develop a great new skill during this 2-hour program designed specifically for ages 8-15. Equipment is provided, and space is limited.

    Go on a “behind the scenes” tour of the deer and raptor compounds, see the animals up close, and learn about these unique critters!

    No Reservations Needed
    Join us for a FREE guided nature walk through the pine flatwoods forest and learn about the plants and animals that live right here in your community.

  • SCIENCE FOR SENIORS: Marine Ecology
    Tuesday, March 31, 9:30am
    Adults 50+, $5/person
    Reservations Required – Call 561-233-1400
    ‘Science for Seniors’ programs are easy paced and are designed for adults 50 and older with a desire to learn more about our environment.  Only a small portion of the Earth’s oceans have been explored, but they are home to some of the world’s most amazing creatures.  Come learn about some of the wonders of the deep in this class that introduces us to marine ecology.
