BCC BriefsAt the December 7, 2010, Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board took the following action: Airports – adopted a resolution establishing a fuel flowage fee schedule for aviation fuel and oil sold at the North County and Glades regional airports and a slight increase in the fuel flowage fees currently charged at the Lantana airport. Recovery Zone – approved a resolution allocating approximately $36 million in Recovery Zone Economic Development Bond funds to the Riviera Beach CRA. The monies will be used for improvements to the Riviera Beach Municipal Marina, construction of a two-story community facility and a 600-space parking garage, and infrastructure improvements to Avenue E and the Ocean Mall. These are federal funds with no financial obligation to the county and no required local match. Libraries – agreed to continue leasing approximately 32,000 square feet of warehouse space in the Mil-Lake Plaza in Greenacres at an annual rate of $259,000 for storage of library materials. COPS – authorized the acceptance of a $2.634 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) program to hire and rehire additional sheriff deputies. There is no local match required, and no additional county funds will be needed until grant funding expires in FY-2013. Charities – approved a budget transfer in the amount of approximately $336,000 from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund to the Sheriff’s Office in support of crime prevention programs and public safety efforts by the following nonprofit organizations: Faith Hope Love Charity, Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranches, Gulfstream Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Humane Society of Greater Jupiter-Tequesta, Nope Task Force, Palm Beach County PAL, PBC Substance Abuse Coalition, Quantum House, Safety Council of PBC, The ARC of PBC Foundation, and the Urban League of PBC. Night meetings – directed administrative staff to research costs associated with holding some BCC meetings in the evening at the County Governmental Center to enable more working citizens to attend. # # #
