Due to the westward shift of Tropical Storm Fay reported by the National Hurricane Center, School District officials have determined that schools will be open on Monday, August 18th. Monday marks the first day of school for the District’s 170,000 plus students.
The Palm Beach County Division of Emergency Management continues to monitor and prepare for possible affects of Tropical Storm Fay currently located south of Florida.
A Tropical Storm Watch remains in effect for the Southeast coast of Florida. A Tropical Storm Watch means that tropical storm conditions are possible within the area within 36 hours.
The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is staffed and County officials are in communication with the State EOC, National Hurricane Center and Emergency Management Offices statewide. Palm Beach County will continue to monitor and issue updates as needed.
