Free Residential Workshop on Root Barriers, Root Pruning, and Transplanting Trees at Cooperative Extension Service

Urban trees provide a sense of place, beauty, shade, habitat for wildlife, energy savings, and increased property value.  In an urban environment, trees grow differently than in the forest and must be cared for properly to maintain their health, function and longevity in the landscape.

On Saturday, July 14, the Palm Beach County Cooperative Extension Service will hold a free workshop on the basics of root pruning, root barriers and transplanting trees. Lecture and discussion will be followed by outdoor activity (weather permitting).  This is the third in a series of nine tree care workshops scheduled for residents in 2012.

This program is made possible by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and the Florida Forest Service through the 2011 National Urban and Community Forestry Grant Program.
