On Wednesday, June 13, from 8 AM to Noon, a training exercise will take place in Palm Beach County. This biennial training exercise involves simulated response actions and the simulated emergency protective measures that would be implemented if an emergency at the St Lucie Nuclear Power Plant were to occur.
This event will be conducted simultaneously with similar actions from response agencies in 4 other counties. The training exercise will involve simulated response actions by emergency response personnel from various federal, state, county and municipal agencies.
Simulated emergency activity will take place at John Prince Park on 6th Avenue in Lake Worth in and around the Mound Circle Pavilion. Park patrons and residents of the neighborhoods around the park are reminded that emergency activity in John Prince Park on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, is for training and exercise purposes only. The Emergency Operations Center will also be activated for this exercise.
Media wishing to cover the exercise are asked to follow the main park road from Lake Osborne Drive south or north from Congress Avenue to Mound Circle Pavilion. You can park live trucks in the grassy area between the lake and the road on the East side of the exercise. This area is south of the Boundless Playground and just North of 6th Avenue (no park entrance).
Additional information regarding this event and/or this announcement can be obtained from the Palm Beach County Department of Public Affairs.
