County’s Dark Sky Festival at Okeeheelee Nature Center March 9Please join the Palm Beach County Departments of Environmental Resources Management and Parks and Recreation for the county’s Dark Sky Festival on Saturday, March 9 from 6 pm to 10 pm. The purpose of the festival is to raise awareness of sky glow and other light pollution, show how these light sources affect the natural environment, and help find ways to reduce it. This family-friendly event will demonstrate how you can improve lighting practices to lower energy use, reduce harmful impacts to wildlife, and make it easier to see the night sky. Event activities include stargazing, telescopes, live animal show, guided nature walk, speakers, children’s crafts and face painting, displays from local environmental organizations, and food vendors.
Note: Space is limited and reservations are required for the guided nature tour. To make a reservation contact Jacey Biery at 561-233-2461 or JBiery@pbcgov.org. This event is funded by the Sea Turtle License Plate Grant Program.
