Special Olympics Day Declared!

On January 16, Commissioner Abrams presented a proclamation designating January 16, 2010 as Special Olympics Day at Publix in Lantana.   Numerous athletes and representatives from Palm Beach County Special Olympics were in attendance to receive the proclamation. 

Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for people eight years of age and older with mental and physical disabilities.  The organization provides continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other athletes and the community.
