Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Specialized Dive Training at Port of Palm Beach

Capt. H Park
Palm Beach County, Florida
June 21st , 2012

On father's day morning station's 19 and 34 special operations trained together at the Port of Palm Beach. The training involved dive level II operations. Divers donned dry suits and full face masks and dove a slip in the port. The depth was 35'-40' and visibility was 5 -10 feet and at times zero visibility. The port offers a great training area for dive as it allows for a little depth and technical conditions. Divers made giant stride jumps from the sea wall and utilized a roof ladder for their exit.
During the dive, the divers encountered many discarded tires, small crustaceans and some very toxic lion fish. Divers also contended with a tidal change and an endless one foot sea weed jungle on the surface.
