The thoughts and prayers of all of us at Palm Beach County Fire Rescue are with those affected by the recent earthquakes in Haiti as well as with those involved in the search and rescue efforts currently under way. We Palm Beach County Fire Rescue is currently working with local and state Emergency Operations Centers to determine what items (such as medical supplies and fire-service related equipment) will be needed by rescue workers.

The amount of misinformation about the relief effort and assistance the public can provide is increasing. In an effort to help alleviate some of the misinformation, we are putting together a listing of charitable orgnazations that are involved in the relief and recovery process. Members of the public who wish to participate or contribute in any way are encouraged to contact one or more of these organizations directly:

The State Department has set up a toll-free number for people who have family members in Haiti. This number is 888-407-4747. Some callers may receive a voice recording due to heavy usage.
