Golden Palm 2000 Winners

Rudy Gibson of Communications, developed and taught a comprehensive program on communication and electronic theory including the latest technology to his new co-workers to improve their skill levels.

Glenn Sorensen and Chris Arbour of Communications brought the maintenance program in-house and developed a price agreement for the procurement of equipment and material necessary for on-going maintenance and installation of mux units for the high-speed voice/data communications network at an estimated cost savings of $247,197.

Facilities Management CJC employees, Bill Steinebach, Larry Davis, Jeff Collins, and Chuck Stancil, reorganized and decreased Facilities’ complement while maintaining al of the expansion which occurred in the 1990s and improved the work relationship with Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office.

Rod Lyew-Fong, Chris Newell, Tony Malizia, and Dan Hoens of Facilities Management North County replaced 4,500 square feet of decking at the Agriculture Center at a cost savings of $100,000.

Facilities Management’s Joe Burns and Ron Petrich researched and found a solution to the constant problem of damaged hot and cold dispensing units on the sinks and water coolers at the Stockade at a cost savings of $13,308.76.

Skip Fowler, Steve Francis and James Ussery of Fleet Management created a template for PBIA’s AOA gates and built a new gate after the original was damaged by a fuel truck. This had been an on-going problem at PBIA.

Chauncey Taylor, II director of Facilities Services coordinated the program of retrofitting nine (9) schools with hurricane shutters and resulted in restoring 20,000 additional spaces of shelter.
