Palm Beach County Natural Areas Activities

 

    Several of our sites with parking facilities also have an accessible nature trail and/or boardwalk.
    Biking is available in certain natural areas but only on designated trails. See the trail guide or information kiosk for more details.
    Several of our sites have a boardwalk as part of the hiking and/or accessible nature trail.
    The site provides access and limited docking facilities. Currently only Ocean Ridge and Juno Dunes Natural Areas have these facilities.
    Canoeing and kayaking is available at the Snook Islands Natural Area, and a canoe/kayak landing is available at the Delaware Scrub Natural Area.
    Horseback riding is allowed only on designated trails at Loxahatchee Slough, Royal Palm Beach Pines and Acreage Pines Natural Areas. A permit is required. Please visit our Equestrian Use Permit webpage for permitting information.
    Fishing is allowed only at specific natural areas where fisheries are sustainable. This is the Lake Worth Lagoon, the C-18 Canal, some large freshwater lakes, or the shoreline of the Atlantic ocean. A Florida fishing license may be required by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission.
    Come try our fishing pier at the Limestone Creek Natural Area.
    Sites with a water hand pump are for equestrian use only. The water is non-potable. (not for human consumption)
    To really experience our natural areas, you need to get out and explore. Most of our sites have both natural-surface hiking trails and accessible nature trails. Visit our trail guides webpage for a listing of sites with hiking and nature trails.
    Interested in the history of a natural area? Curious about the plants and animals found on the site? Be sure to visit the information kiosk to learn about these items and more.
    Get a bird's-eye view of the natural areas and surrounding lands at our observation tower.
    Site contains a small parking lot or parking is available at an adjacent facility. Parking is available daily from sunrise to sunset.
    Currenly only Juno Dunes Natural Area has picnic tables and facilities located at the adjacent Loggerhead Park.
    The site contains portable restroom facilities.
    If you're feeling the heat, cool down in an inviting shade shelter.
    Several of our natual areas can be accessed using the Palm Beach Water Taxi service. Visit the water taxi website for more information.
    From manatees at Delaware Scrub and Jupiter Ridge Natural Areas to bald eagles at Winding Waters, our natural areas are prime spots for wildlife viewing.
