Waterway County Park

Waterway County Park 2 Waterway County Park 1

The Waterway County Parks project involved the clearing of 17 acres of mostly Australian pines, excavation of over 30,000 cubic yards of spoil, creation of over 11 acres of mangrove and Spartina wetlands, and the creation of 1 acre of maritime hammocks at the southern terminus of the park's peninsula. In addition, the Jupiter High School Environmental Academy and the Boy and Girl Scouts of America, among others, planted over 35,000 red mangrove seedlings.

Total costs for the project exceeded $500,000. Funds came from the County's Roadway Production Division to offset environmental damage from the construction of Donald Ross Bridge. This project is located in a County maintained park and will remain relatively passive resulting in an improved area for wildlife and local fisheries.
