Palm Beach County's Department of Environmental Resources Management (ERM) is responsible for restoring and enhancing estuarine habitat, such as the Snook Islands Natural Area in the central part of Lake Worth Lagoon, and freshwater habitat, such as the Square Lake Project in the Freshwater Chain-of-Lakes System. Other major initiatives associated with the County's Lakes, Estuaries and Lagoons includes the Manatee Protection Plan, the Lake Worth Lagoon Partnership Grant Program, and seagrass mapping and monitoring.
