In January 2008 the Research and Planning Unit started to publish a one page bulletin highlighting the activities and achievements of the mandated Task Forces and Councils supported by the Research and Planning Unit. The one page bulletins were attached to the agenda packets prepared for the Criminal Justice Commission meetings. Given the recent interest in research and evaluation, expressed by the Criminal Justice Commission, we decided to change to a newsletter format to better inform Commission members about the full range of activities and services provided by the Research and Planning Unit.
The monthly newsletter will continue to highlight the major accomplishments by the mandated Task Forces or Committees; which include the Law Enforcement Planning Council, Court System Task Force, Corrections Task Force, and Probation Advisory Board. In addition, the newsletter will highlight specific findings uncovered by the Research and Planning Unit, as well as, other scholarly work published by federal, state, and other county departments that concern crime and the criminal justice system both directly and indirectly. We hope that members, as well as the general public, find this new format informative and helpful.
