At the Board of County Commissioners meeting on March 5, 2024, Commissioner Bernard presented a proclamation declaring March 8, 2024 as International Grant Professionals Day. Grant professionals play a pivotal role in securing and protecting funding for projects and programs that address the needs of children, youth, the elderly, the disadvantaged, the environment, the arts, education, libraries, hospitals and more. Grant professionals also manage grants and ensure compliance with funding requirements and the reporting progress. Recognizing the need to break down silos among county departments in the grant writing process and to leverage all resources and opportunities, Strategic Planning and Performance Management created the Grants Cross-Departmental Team to ensure that this happens.
