At the Board of County Commissioners meeting on Jan. 23, 2024, Commissioner Baxter presented a proclamation declaring January 2024 as Human Trafficking Prevention Month in Palm Beach County. Human traffickers view Florida as one of the most attractive destinations and transit points for their victims and accounts for the third largest call volume to the National Human Trafficking Hotline. Reports from the Florida Department of Children and Families indicate that among the calls to the child abuse hotline in Palm Beach County in 2023, there were more than 93 reports of the trafficking of minors, 77 of which were reports of commercial sexual exploitation of children, and 16 were reports of labor trafficking of children. Palm Beach County is committed to sending a strong message to perpetrators that our county has zero tolerance for all forms of human trafficking.
