On July 24, 2023, Commissioner Woodward attended the South Florida Regional Transportation Agency’s (SFRTA) press conference at the West Palm Beach Tri-Rail station to celebrate the award of over $71 million to replace 24 rail vehicles, representing 32% of Tri-Rail’s fleet. The commissioner congratulated the organization for securing their largest grant in 10 years.
The project's total cost is estimated at $179.2 million, requiring a local match that the agency will supplement with support from the Florida Department of Transportation, unrestrictive reserve funds and additional federal funds.
