On May 22, 2022, Commissioner Woodward joined Dr. James Green, director of the Community Services Department, to tour the Senator Philip D. Lewis Homeless Resource Center in West Palm Beach. The center offers supportive services and temporary housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

Homelessness remains a strategic priority for Palm Beach County and its partnering agencies. The county’s most recent point-in-time count identified 1,855 homeless individuals, a 32% increase compared to 2022 and double-digit upticks for seniors, children and families.

The county has four homeless resource facilities in operation and recently broke ground on a second resource center in Lake Worth Beach. The county is also working with the city of West Palm Beach on seven cottage homes for transitional housing for homeless families.
