On April 13, 2023, Commissioner Woodward attended the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce Trustees breakfast hosted by Florida Atlantic University (FAU) at the Polo Club of Boca Raton. Guest Speaker FAU Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine Dean and Vice President Julie Pilitsis discussed her role at FAU and several of her key initiatives including furthering the college's vibrant research on healthy aging, geriatrics, neuroscience and chronic pain and opioid use.
In addition, the commissioner had an opportunity to meet some of the members of the FAU Intermediate Small Coed Division I-A cheer team that recently won first place at the National Cheerleading Association's Collegiate National Championship in Daytona Beach. FAU's large coed cheer team placed fifth, and the all-girls team placed 12th.
The chamber's monthly meeting allows members and guests to network and stay updated on several issues including education and economic development.
