On April 5, 2023, Commissioner Woodward toured the phase one construction of the C-51 Reservoir that will provide an alternate water supply source for eight public water utilities in South Florida.
Future phases could add additional storage over time that could be used to combat saltwater intrusion and assist with the restoration of the Lake Worth Lagoon and Loxahatchee River, as well as for additional alternative water supply needs and environmental purposes.
The phased, two-reservoir project will cover 60,000 acre-feet on property owned by Palm Beach Aggregates, LLC, on Southern Boulevard near 20-Mile Bend.
