On April 3, 2023, Commissioner Woodward met with Florida Atlantic University's (FAU) Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine Chief Operating Officer Rebecca Napier. In addition to touring the facilities, a team of medical students provided the commissioner with an overview of the college's advances in cutting-edge translational research.
The college is one of the most recent Liaison Committee on Medical Education accredited medical schools in the U.S. and the 134th allopathic medical school in North America. It matriculates 64 medical students each year and has been nationally recognized for its innovative curriculum.
As a community-based medical school, the college's humanistic, high-tech curriculum along with its partnerships with three independent health systems in Palm Beach County offer students and patients a unique experience.
