On March 10, 2023, Commissioner Woodward joined fellow commissioners at the ribbon cutting for the re-opening of the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens' original museum building, the Yamato-kan.

The Yamato-kan, built in 1977, was used as the museum until the main museum was constructed in 1993. The 2,000-square-foot building is located at the heart of the gardens and has stood as a symbol of Japanese culture and architecture for many years.

With its unique collections, the museum and Japanese gardens are a hidden gem and one of Palm Beach County's most treasured cultural attractions.

Be transported to Japan through an incredible .8-mile walk through Japanese-inspired gardens where you can see waterfalls, koi fish, other wildlife and an extensive bonsai collection.
