On Feb. 3, 2023, Commissioner Woodward attended a press conference announcing that the Palm Beach County Sports Commission will host the prestigious Billie Jean King Cup at the Delray Beach Tennis Center. The commissioner congratulated Palm Beach County for winning the bid and looks forward to welcoming the best players from around the nation, including American player Coco Gauff.
The sports commission attracts sporting events and activities to the county to enhance economic impact, stimulate bed tax revenues and maximize utilization of county facilities.
The Billie Jean King Cup is the world's largest women’s international sports competition in terms of the number of nations that compete, with more than 100 nations competing yearly.
