Providing Emergency Assistance Public Private Partnership

Commissioner Robert S. Weinroth announced today that the Board of County Commissioners approved a Care to Share Agreement with the Florida Power and Light Company (FP&L).  The program provides emergency funds to customers who experience a crisis and are unable to pay their electric bill. 

To date, over $1.5 million has been distributed by the county's Division of Human Services and Veteran's Affairs, who administers the program with FP&L.    

This program assists over 300 households per year, with 1,625 assisted over the most recent five-year period.  The funding is a combination of funds collected from FPL corporate and customer contributions.
 

"Programs like this are a wonderful example of public and private partnerships in our community we can be extremely proud of," said Comm. Weinroth.
