About Us
The Addressing Section is the official regulatory authority on street addresses for unincorporated Palm Beach County. We create and maintain a collection of all existing, approved addresses and all private and public street names.

What We Do

  • Assign addresses for unincorporated Palm Beach County.
  • Maintain listings of all approved street names for unincorporated Palm Beach County as well as the municipalities within.
  • Approve proposed street names through platting process and private street development.
  • Administer Street Name Change Program.
  • Correct/change addresses as necessary.
  • Research questionable addresses.
  • Encourage property owners to post their approved addresses.
  1. Street Names: We are the official regulatory authority on street names for unincorporated Palm Beach County.  Our Street Name Index includes all known public and private streets throughout the county.

  2. Private Streets: Private streets are owned, maintained and named by the property owner. However, all names must be approved by the Addressing Section. It is also the responsibility of the property owner of private streets to post the street signs.

  3. Public Streets: Public streets are defined as dedicated public right-of-way, and are owned and maintained by the county or state government.  Public streets are legally created on paper by plats, which are survey drawings of subdivisions of land.  When a proposed plat is under review, we verify all proposed street names to ensure they comply with code.  No new street name is approved that is a duplicate with any existing street within the entire county.  When the plat is officially recorded, and permits for new construction are applied for, we assign addresses using those new street names.

  4. Street Name Changes: Street name changes can be submitted by anyone.  A request for a Street Name Change must accompany a petition signed by 100% of the property owners whose property abuts the street in question, and must show the existing name and the proposed new name.  Please note there is a fee that is applicable for Vanity street name changes.

To request an address, please contact us at (561) 233-5316 or e-mail us at Smacdona@pbcgov.org .  A Property Control Number (aka: PCN, folio number, Tax ID number, Assessor's number) is required to obtain an address.  Contact the Property Appraiser's office for this information or refer to your tax bill or deed.
